Why Not Wye Petition

This is a very simply petition directed to the management of the Southern California METROLINK. Simply stated - we are asking that all passenger trains be operated with a Locomotive first - this could mean either turning the trains at one end of the run or operating with a weighted dummy locomotive (cabbage car) at one end. The additional weight of the Locomotive along with the "cow catchers" on the front of locomotives tremendously increase the likelihood that anything on the tracks will be knocked clear. This will also greatly decrease the chances of severe derailment by objects on the tracts lifting the front of the train. Lighter - square front cab cars seem to be more apt to have objects hang up under the front wheels and then lift the front of the car. Petition to David Solow, CEO, SCRRA dba METROLINK

We are concerned citizens & riders of METROLINK trains and their friends and families.

Turning the trains, using a “wye” so that the locomotives are always in front pulling the passenger cars, seems to be a much safer way to run the train considering there are 785 grade crossings and 10s of millions of vehicles in Southern California

Give a “Wye” for the lives and safety of our families and friends.
